Accessibility

HOPSCOTCH is for every family and every host. We want everyone to be able to find a space, book it and host on our site, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, voice control or magnification.

Our Goal

We are working to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. We test our pages with automated tools and by hand, and we fix problems as we find them. We don't claim the site is perfect, and we keep improving it.

What We Have Done

  • A “Skip to Main Content” link for keyboard and screen reader users.
  • Text and buttons that meet the WCAG color contrast minimums.
  • Forms with labels, and buttons and links that can be used with a keyboard.
  • Calendar dates and maps that are described to screen readers.
  • Pages that zoom and reflow on phones, and animation that respects your device's reduced motion setting.

Known Limits

  • Interactive maps are hard to use without a mouse or touch. Every listing also shows its area and details as text.
  • Photos uploaded by hosts may not have descriptions. Hosts describe their space in the listing text.
  • Some third-party tools we use, such as payments and sign-in, have their own accessibility.

Tell Us About a Problem

If something on HOPSCOTCH is hard to use, or you need information in another way, please tell us on our Contact page. Say which page you were on and what happened, and we will reply and work with you to fix it or help you complete what you needed, such as a booking.
