Good Guest Guidelines
Hosts are opening up their own backyards. These nine habits keep that welcome — for you, and for the next family who books after you.
- 1
Follow the house rules
Every listing has its own rules — where to park, which areas are off-limits, how to get in. Read them before you book, not when you arrive.
- 2
Stick to your guest count
The cap on a listing isn't just about what the yard can hold — it's also what the host's street and neighbors can handle. Don't bring more people than you booked for.
- 3
Stay present the whole time
A parent or guardian stays on-site with their children for the entire booking. This is part of what you agree to when you book, not a suggestion.
- 4
Only bring who you listed
List the children attending when you book, and keep it accurate. It's how the host knows who's coming, and it matters if anything ever needs to be looked into.
- 5
Respect the schedule
Bookings are hourly with no overnight stays. Arrive and leave on time — running over can bump into the host's evening or the next guest's booking.
- 6
Treat the street like your own
Park only where the host tells you to, keep noise reasonable, and be mindful that this is somebody's neighborhood, not a public park.
- 7
Leave it as you found it
Clean up before you go. If something breaks or gets damaged, tell the host — don't leave them to discover it after you're gone.
- 8
Keep the address private
The exact address is shared with you once your booking is confirmed. Keep it between you and your group — it's not meant to be posted or passed around.
- 9
Say something early
If a listing isn't as described or something feels off, message the host directly through Hopscotch right away. A quick message solves more than a surprise left in a review.
